J80 World Championship 2012

Welcome to the UK J80 2012 Worlds site. You will be able to find all the information that you need for the regatta here.

As we get closer to the event more information will be added and updated, as it unfolds results and press releases will also appear.

We have been working with Britannia Royal Naval College, Royal Dart Yacht Club, the town of Dartmouth and our sponsors to create what we hope will be a great regatta.

Situated within a designated area of outstanding natural beauty Dartmouth is approximately 34 miles from Exeter, 25 miles from Plymouth. Start bay offers a perfect venue for a World Championship, a quick transit to race area from a sheltered harbour, sheltered from the tide by Start point to the south and Berry head to the North, yet exposed to the prevailing South Westerly breeze.

The 2011 UK Nationals showed what a great venue Dartmouth can be with some amazing downwind legs in a big breeze, as you’ll be able to see from some of the pictures on this site. Dartmouth has been synonymous with sea faring for over a thousand years. Today it is perhaps better known for the Britannia Royal Naval college establish on it’s current site in 1905, the training ground for Royal Navy officers including several Royals. We are extremely privileged to be guests of the college for both the Worlds opening and closing ceremonies.
